Thank you for referring patients to the National Renal Advisory Panel meeting.
Meeting schedule
This will be WebEx based and will take place on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from May 2017 onwards from 13.00 to 14.00 hrs
Aims of the meeting
- The panel has compiled the expertise of a small group of dedicated clinicians from across the county with a special interest in the various aspects of management of paediatric renal tumours.
- We are keen to provide advisory support for colleagues caring for patients with clinically challenging renal tumours. We particularly wish to discuss at presentation those patients with bilateral tumours, or those with intravascular tumour extension or challenging metastatic disease, those with refractory disease or disease relapse, as well as other complicated renal tumours (eg. With co-morbidities, genetic disease) or unusual cases (eg. non-WT and adults with WT).
- The advisory panel will only provide advice on management and this is NOT an MDT treatment recommendation. If further PTC-specific MDT input is required, please refer the patient to the appropriate PTC via the process required for that referral.
How to make a referral
- Please complete the electronically the Referral Proforma and email to gos-tr.renonc@nhs.net.
- Please note a new proforma is in use from April 2023
- Please also send a further one line notification email to: tanzina.chowdhury@gosh.nhs.uk and lisa.howell@alderhey.nhs.uk
- Please send all relevant imaging via IEP to the following three centres to allow coordination of the radiology review process:
- Great Ormond Street Hospital, London (for attention of Dr Tanzina Chowdhury and Dr Tom Watson)
- The Alderhey Hospital, Liverpool (for the attention of Dr Lisa Howell and Dr Kate Taylor -Robinson)
- The Royal Marsden Hospital (for the attention of Dr Sucheta Vaidya and Dr Rosemary Allen).
- Please send images at least three days before the meeting to allow advanced review, and make sure that pathology is available for review if needed
- Please convey the urgency for the discussion. If an urgent discussion is required, or if key members cannot be present, we may need to convene an ad-hoc meeting in between the bi-monthly meetings.
- Please indicate your email address and the email addresses of any other participants from the local team that you wish to be present for the discussion.
CCLG Renal NAP Referral Pro Forma
Participants
- We would welcome the invitation to the meeting by the referring oncologist of relevant surgical and other colleagues involved in the case at the PTC, to allow full discussion with all relevant perspectives.
- We wish to have UK-wide expertise available for radiology, pathology, surgery and oncology for each meeting. If patients need additional expertise from colleagues in other disciplines we aim to have their presence and opinion. Any oncologists with an interest in renal tumours are welcome to participate.
- An email link will be sent to you a few days before the meeting with instructions as to how to log in/dial in.
Presentation of cases
- Please prepare a short and concise presentation that you can share with all participants on Webex. Local radiologists and local pathologists should ideally present scans and histopathology for the relevant patients from their PTC.
We thank the CCLG and administrative staff for their support in hosting this WebEx meeting, and look forward to excellent debate and discussion for maximum patient benefit.
With best wishes,
Tanzina Chowdhury and Lisa Howell (Chairs of the CCLG National Renal Advisory Panel) and Sucheta Vaidya (Chair of the CCLG Renal Special Interest Group)
