Starting in Hartington in the Peak District, the hikers took on a 13.4-mile route through Alstonefield, Wetton and Hulme End, ending back at Hartington eight hours later. Despite the rainy weather, the dedicated walkers kept going and completed the route, supported by a team from CCLG.

One of the walkers, Julie Grange, said: “I enjoyed every minute even though I was wet. The amount raised so far is amazing, and the fact my daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2019 when she was 10 years old makes it more personal and more aware of the difference it can make.”
Another commented: “An absolutely brilliant day raising money for such an important cause.”
Vicki Brunt, Head of Fundraising for CCLG and one of the CCLG team supporting walkers on the day, said:
What a weekend! Our first Big Hike was a cracker, rain and all. When the rain arrived at lunch, it could have ruined the mood, but spirits stayed high, and we still finished the 13.4 miles on time. Soggy, smiley, and proud. A big thank you to everyone who helped in the lead-up or on the day itself.

The CCLG team would like to thank everyone who helped to support the event, including:
- St John Ambulance for first-aid support
- Hartington Village Hall for hosting us
- The Village Stores, Hartington, for amazing food
- Nestlé Waters (Buxton) for donating water
- Photographer William Hickie for capturing the day
