Charities announce ‘revolutionary’ investment with £800,000 commitment to Ewing sarcoma research

  • Published:

Today, we are proud to announce a record £800k investment focused on improving treatments for Ewing sarcoma patients thanks to collaboration between our charities.

The funding, supported by the Bone Cancer Research Trust, the Ewing’s Sarcoma Research Trust Legacy, CCLG: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to bone cancer patients.

Despite being one of the more common primary bone cancers in the UK, especially amongst teenagers and young adults, progress in understanding and treating Ewing sarcoma remains limited. Survival rates have seen little progress in over forty years - our patients deserve more.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have injected a groundbreaking £800,000 into four pioneering research projects — all of which aim to bridge the gap in our understanding of Ewing sarcoma by addressing causes, treatments, and prognosis.

For every patient, and every family, this funding represents hope. Hope that more people will survive. Hope that treatments will be less toxic and more effective. Hope that Ewing sarcoma will one day destroy fewer lives.

Our commitment is not just about funding — it is a testament to the power of collaboration, the need for progress, and our unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Ewing sarcoma patients.

Together, we are taking steps to turn the tide on this disease. Please stay tuned as we announce details of each innovative project.

Thank you to the researchers, clinicians, families, and supporters who make this groundbreaking funding possible.
