These Terms and Conditions apply to all Fundraising Activities. By taking part in our £1K Your Way challenge for the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) You agree to comply with the below Terms and Conditions.
We want you to have fun when you’re raising funds – but you must ensure you don’t take any risks with safety, and follow the law. It may seem daunting, but if you have any questions, please get in touch.
Your responsibilities
- You are to organise Fundraising Activities as an independent supporter of the CCLG. You should therefore refer to raising money ‘in aid of’ and not ‘on behalf of’ CCLG.
- You may take part in the following CCLG events as part of your £1K Your Way challenge:
-
- Winter Wellbeing Walk
- Skip into Spring
- Pup Hero
- C Through September
- Festive Fundraiser
- We will not include any CCLG pin badge sales or any other challenge events that are organised and paid for by CCLG such as
- London Marathon
- Great North Run
- Ultra Challenges that are booked and paid for by CCLG
- Skydives that are booked and paid for by CCLG
However, you are welcome to book your own challenges and pay the costs yourself and then use the fundraising towards your 1K Your Way Total. If you have any questions regarding this please talk to a member of the fundraising team.
- You are welcome to take part in other challenges or events that you register and pay for yourself, but the costs cannot be covered by your sponsorship. 100% of any sponsorship raised by taking part in other third-party events must be included in your total and paid to CCLG in full.
- You agree that you will comply with any reasonable lawful instruction or guidance provided by CCLG relating to any Fundraising Activity you undertake.
- You are responsible for all aspects of organising the Fundraising Activities including health and safety, conducting risk assessments, gaining appropriate permissions and licences and obtaining insurance where required. Your Fundraising Activities will not be covered by CCLG’s insurance.
- You must ensure your Fundraising Activities are conducted in accordance with all relevant and up-to-date guidance as issued by any of the UK Government, the Governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (where applicable) and any relevant Local Authorities.
- You will be responsible for the payment of any costs, taxes, or expenses incurred or arising in connection with Your Fundraising Activities. These cannot be paid with donations received as part of the Fundraising Activities.
- A responsible adult aged 18 or over must take responsibility for collecting donations and counting the funds raised.
- You will pay all fundraising proceeds to CCLG as soon as reasonably possible and in any case within 28 days after the date(s) on which the Your Fundraising Activity or Activities are concluded.
- All payments to CCLG shall be made to your JustGiving page or via debit or credit card, cheque, or bank transfer.
- If your fundraising activity involves an element of physical challenge, it is your responsibility to ensure that the participants have the appropriate level of fitness, You complete health and safety risk assessments prior to the event and You ensure that a suitable level of medical support is provided to all participants and attendees.
Collections
It is illegal to carry out public street collections without a licence. Your local council can provide more information. It is also illegal to carry out house-to-house collections without a licence – and CCLG does not allow house-to-house collections on its behalf. To collect on private property – such as within a shopping centre or railway station – you need permission from the landowner or manager. Tins and buckets used for collections must be sealed and numbered – ensure you only use official CCLG collecting materials supplied by us.
Food hygiene
Food safety laws apply when food is available – whether it is for sale or not. Make sure you follow food hygiene procedures – these are mostly common sense – and you can contact your local council for information about regulations or visit www.food.gov.uk
Selling alcohol
Some venues will already have a licence to sell or supply alcohol. However, if you are using an unlicensed venue and plan to serve alcoholic drinks, you may need a temporary events notice. Check with your local council.
Raffles
The law around raffles, which are a form of lottery, can be quite complicated. If your raffle is part of an event, and tickets are all sold for the same price, you can use cloakroom tickets. For other types of raffles you will need a local lottery licence and printed tickets, which must contain certain information. Check the latest advice at www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk
Insurance
Please remember you are responsible for the activity and CCLG cannot accept liability for any fundraising activity or event that you undertake. If you are planning an event that involves the general public, you’ll need public liability insurance. Your venue may already have this, so check whether they have it, and whether it covers your activity.
Children
We take the safety of children very seriously. Don’t hold an event that specifically encourages children to attend without their parents. Children should be accompanied by an adult. If children may attend your event, make sure the environment is safe
Money
For your own protection, if at all possible make sure you count the money you’ve collected with another person present and have them verify the total amount raised. Ask people who want to make a donation by cheque to make it payable to CCLG rather than you personally. Make sure any cash donated is kept in a secure place and banked as soon as possible.
First aid
You may need a trained first aider depending on the number of people at your event. Check with your local council. Check with your venue too – they may already have this covered,
Risk assessment
Identify any hazards and assess any risks at your event. Minimise risks wherever possible. Ask your venue for help if you’re not sure.
Entertainment
You may need a licence for some types of entertainment – such as live music – check with your venue and the local council.
CCLG logo and charity details
When you’re writing to anyone about your event or producing any publicity materials, please remember to include CCLG’s registered charity number. Please use these exact words:
