Practice Statement
The intention of this Practice Statement “Therapy Based Long Term Follow Up” (2nd Edition) is to inform and guide all clinicians responsible for the clinical follow up of long term survivors of treatment for childhood malignancy, including survivors of bone marrow transplantation (BMT). The Practice Statement updates and extends the information available in the 1st edition “Long Term Follow Up Therapy Based Guidelines” (1995, ed GDN Kissen, WHB Wallace), which was also produced by the UKCCSG Late Effects Group (LEG). The Practice Statement incorporates four new sections (Recipients of blood products, Neurological, Spine, Absent or dysfunctional spleen) and 3 new appendices (two that draw together the many aspects of follow-up required for Survivors of CNS tumoursand Survivors of BMT, and one that summarises recommendations for Immunisation after completion of treatment).
