Jake Ellis was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma and sadly lost his battle in 2008, aged 5. Since losing their son, Jo-ann and Nick have been tirelessly fundraising in memory of Jake, raising an amazing £100,000 and counting to support our work into rhabdomyosarcoma. Team Jake has undertaken a huge number of fundraising events, including the annual Jake Ellis ball and entering a team into the gruelling 40 mile Keswick to Barrow walk each year. In 2014, Jo-ann ran in the London Marathon, raising over £6000. Team Jake also enjoys huge support from the local community, with many local schools and businesses fundraising for the Jake Ellis Fund.
We are so proud of what we have achieved over the last few years. It has not always been easy, sometimes very hard and upsetting, but what has given us both strength is the massive support which continues here in our home town of Barrow in Furness. Not only are Team Jake helping to support CCLG in finding a cure for this disease, but they are ensuring that Jake's memory continues to shine.
